Pique Your Interests, Peak Your Membership

It’s fair to say, we all know the nervousness of going on a job interview or the anxiety of showing up to a family function when we know only one person. Trying to join a fraternity or sorority is sort of a combination of both of those situations.

If you’re an aspiriant, you always hear the same ol, same ol rules about how to express your interest to the organization you wish to join. Be discrete. Do your research. Watch your GPA. Come to the events. While all of these to-dos are important, there are other factors to take into consideration before pledge your loyalty to a particular fraternity or sorority. Trying to get in can be a little intimidating, I’m not even going to lie. BUT, intimidation is only a state of mind.

Greeks Who Run the IG: Part 2

Since I was a child, I have always been the “eccentric, creative one.” According to my recollection,  my little sister has always been the “smart one”. Probably because she learned from my stupid mistakes, but I digress. Anywho, I’ve always naturally gravitated towards the arts. Dancing, drawing, painting, singing, writing, anything you can think of in the term of arts, I’ve probably done it. What I admire about fellow artists who pursue artistry full-time is their will to debunk the naysayers and their perception of an ideal career. So many times, creatives are told “Soooo you can’t really do anything with that. You need to pick a ‘practical’ job”. I love how artists tend to create their own variation of practical in society. NPHC’s Guide to Homecoming, Part 1

One of my favorite times of the year is soon approaching. Not Thanksgiving. Not Christmas. I’m talking about Homecoming. YES! Homecoming! Just picture it:

If you’re anything like me, you can’t wait to see the new developments on campus, catch up with old friends from freshman year and make your way to the livest tailgating tent around (which conveniently happens to belong to your organization). The tantalizing scent of fresh hamburger patties fills the air and intertwines with the sound of Old Heads laughing about the good ol’ days. Play by plays of the football game compete with Greek chants as everyone takes their place in the strolling circle. With a sea of matching shirts and hand signs to match, people are snapping photos left and right. I mean, Homecoming is THE epitome of a great time and I love every second of it.
